Cairo is the capital city of Egypt founded in 969 CE by Jawhar al-Siqilli "The Sicilian" of the Fatimid dynasty. It is the largest city in the Middle-East and second-largest in Africa after Lagos. Located near the Nile Delta, the city is known as the city of a thousand minarets for its mass of Islamic architecture and the center of the region’s political and cultural life.

Cairo is also related with Ancient Egypt as it is close to the ancient cities of Memphis, Fustat and Giza which are near the pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. The city gathers many international media, organizations and businesses and has the oldest and largest music and film industries in the Arab world as well as one of the oldest higher institution in the world, the al-Anhar University.
