Situated along the renowned Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal—a remarkable waterway that predates railroads by over a millennium—Wuzhen has long served as a vital hub for trade and cultural exchange between southern and northern China. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wuzhen has preserved its name and lifestyle throughout the ages. The town's traditional residential houses, workshops, shops, arched bridges, and charming riverbanks remain remarkably intact, with many buildings dating back to the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century.

With a history spanning over 7000 years, Wuzhen Water Town beautifully retains the essence of an ancient water town. Many of its historic homes are elevated on pillars, creating a unique architectural feature known as water pavilions. These structures allow for stunning views of the serene waterways and contribute to the town's enchanting atmosphere.

Wuzhen is divided into two main areas: West Village, ideal for tourist accommodations and best explored at night, and East Village, which focuses on tourism. Visitors can find a variety of inns and hotels throughout the town.

The presence of water pavilions not only brings residents closer to the water but also enhances the town's charm and elegance. Wuzhen's breathtaking scenery, rich cultural history, and unique architectural features make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in China's ancient heritage.
